Mittens & beanie set
A limited winter special

We’re your next best friends on cold bike rides, snowy campfire sessions and romantic lockdown walks. A warm hug for your hands and head. Let’s get sewing.
Good to know
1 cm seam allowance included (sew 1 cm from the edge of the fabric)
01
Determine your mittens size. Place your hand comfortably on the back pattern. Choose the size where you have 3 cm space around your hand. If you're in doubt, choose the larger size.

02
Determine your beanie size. Choose the same size for your head. It's stretchy, so don't worry too much about it.

03
Cut all the pattern pieces in your size.

04
Glue the cuff pieces together.

05
Fold the fabric in half and put it on a large surface, with right sides out.

06
Put all pattern pieces on the fabric. You can use the layout of the illustration when your fabric is wider than 140 cm.

07
Pin them in place & cut the fabric.

08
We need even more of some pattern pieces. Therefore, place the pattern pieces on the rest of the fabric. You can use the layout of the illustration.

09
Pin them in place & cut the fabric.

10
Get the pins and pattern pieces off and lay them aside.

11
Stack the pieces together per item: 2 mittens and 1 beanie. Pin them together so you don't get confused later.

12
We're gonna start with 1 mitten. Lay all the pieces from that stack out, with right side up.

13
Place the pieces on eachother, with right sides together.

14
Pin and sew together.

15
Fold them open and put the back piece on top, with right sides together.

16
Pin and sew together. Careful: don't pin and sew the thumb!
Tip: when you sew, stop just before the thumb, flip it over and start sewing the rest of the piece.

17
Cut half of the seam allowance to avoid bulk when wearing the mittens.

18
Turn one rightside out and place it inside the other one.

19
Pin and sew around, leave 5 cm open.

20
Stuff the whole thing through the hole to get the right sides out. Then put them into each other to create your mitten.

21
Sew the opening by hand so it's closed.

22
Now for the second mitten. Follow steps 11-20 for the other mitten. Click here to go back to step 11.
VERY IMPORTANT!
For step 19: you have to create the mitten for your other hand. Just use this rule:
You have two pieces with the wrong sides facing outwards. Take the one with the thumb on the opposite side of the finished mitten. Put that right side out and put in the other one.

23
Good work, your mittens are done! Now it's time for the beanie. Or do we need a little break?

24
Fold the cuff with right sides together.

25
Pin and sew together.

26
Fold in half with the right sides out.

27
Fold this piece with right sides together. Pin and sew. Do this for both of these pieces.

28
Fold them open, place them on each other with right sides together. Pin and sew around.

29
Put the head piece in the cuff with the fold of the cuff facing upwards.

30
Pin and sew around.

31
Put the beanie right side out. Zigzag the seam edges upwards.

32
Done! Good work.
